The dial is textured gold with black Roman numeral hour markers, and blued stick baton hands. It has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 3848/1 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 215 movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve embellishment, and the Patek Philippe Seal. It's constructed with 18 Jewels, 130 components, 5 bridges, a straight-line lever escapement, a free-sprung self-compensating flat balance spring, and a shock absorber device. It includes a micrometer regulator and a Gyromax monometallic balance that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. It has a Spiromax balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz).

The Patek Philippe Ladies Golden Ellipse 3848 was first introduced in 1968. The simple elliptical design is based on the golden mean, a mathematical division of geometric form discovered over two thousand years ago, named the "divine proportion" expressed as a ratio of 1/1.6181 by the Greeks.
