More about Patek Philippe 3548 Ellipse 18K Yellow Gold Manual Wind

This is a vintage 1970's 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Ladies Golden Ellipse 3548. It has a leather strap with an 18k yellow gold tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a pull out winding crown and a solid snap-down case back. The 32mm by 27mm solid three-body ellipsoid case, hooded Vendôme-type lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is Indigo blue with applied yellow gold baton index hour markers and baton hands. The 6.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Patek Philippe Ladies Golden Ellipse 3548 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 23-300 PM movement. It's stamped with the Geneva Quality Hallmark, and it's rhodium-plated with fausses-côtes embellishment. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It' includes a monometallic Gyromax balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance-spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz).

This Patek Philippe Ladies Golden Ellipse 3548 was first introduced in 1968. The simple elliptical design is based on the golden mean, a mathematical division of geometric form discovered over two thousand years ago.
