More about Blancpain 0023 Tourbillon Patinum Manual Wind PROTOTYPE DIAL

This is a platinum Blancpain Tourbillon 0023. It has a leather strap with a platinum tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a pull out winding crown and a solid screw-down exhibition sapphire display Tourbillon case back engraved with "BLANCPAIN," and a serial number. The flying tourbillion and in-line escapement is visible from both the front and the solid snap down case back. The 34mm diameter solid three-body case, stepped bezel, and straight lugs, are polished. The dial is a rare prototype black with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers, and luminous pointed baton hands with luminous inserts. There is a subsidiary radial date aperture window at the 9 o'clock position, and a fan-shaped 8-day, 192-hour power reserve indicator is at 6 o'clock, both with luminous white Arabic numerals, markers, and indicator hands. It's water resistant and the 8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Blancpain Tourbillon 0023 has a mechanical manual winding Blancpain caliber 25 movement. It's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes and Cotes de Geneve embellishment, and it's constructed with 29 jewels, 238 components, a shock absorber device, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. It includes a flying Tourbillon regulator with polished steel arms, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz).

The Blancpain Tourbillon 0023 was introduced in 1989. It was the world's first flying tourbillon as well as the thinnest.
