More about IWC IW371413 Portuguese Chronograph White Gold/White Gold Buckle

This is a white gold IWC Portuguese Chronograph IW371413. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching white gold tang buckle, and a scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal. The 41mm diameter solid three-body case, overhanging "deep dish" bezel, downturned lugs, and screw-down case back secured with four screws, are polished/brushed. The matte black dial has applied steel Arabic hour numerals, outer dot minute divisions, and silver sub-registers. It has steel feuille hands, and an outer most minute track with a 1/5th seconds scale. The round pushbutton chronograph has subsidiary dials for the small constant seconds at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute register at 12. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This IWC Portuguese Chronograph IW371413 has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber 79350 movement that's gilt brass with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, and a straight-line lever escapement. There is a shock absorber mechanism and a, self-compensating flat balance spring, as well as a hacking seconds mechanism.

The round case design Portuguese family was initiated in 1939 by IWC to honor Portugal’s great seafaring explorers like Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, and Bartolomeu Dias. The line has grown to have formidable complications and designs that reference the tradition of nautical instruments.
