This is a stainless steel Nomos Orion 38 Datum 1989. It has a dark brown suede strap with a stainless steel buckle, and a slightly curved scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a pull out winding crown, and an exhibition sapphire display case back engraved with "GESCHUTZTES MODELL ORION – EDELSTAHL – WASSERDICHT BIS 3 ATM," and a serial number. The 38mm diameter solid gently curved three-body case, curved lugs, and rounded thin bezel are polished. It has a matte dark grey dial with gold plated baton hour indices around a perimeter minute scale. There is a recessed concentric circle guilloche running small seconds subsidiary dial with a gold plated hand at 6 o'clock. It has a 42-hour power reserve at full wind, and it's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet. The 9.2mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Nomos Orion 38 Datum 1989 has a mechanical manual winding Nomos caliber DUW 4101 movement. It's made from Glashutte three-quarter plate with Glashutte stopwork, and rhodium plated components with Glashutte ribbing and Nomos perlage. It includes 23 jewels, an anti-shock device, a ratchet and crown wheel with Glashutte sunburst embellishment, the NOMOS swing system escapement with their iconic tempered blue balance spring, and a stop-seconds device for precision time setting. It has tempered blue screws, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 6 positions. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz).

The Nomos Orion 38 Datum 1989 was introduced at the SIHH exhibition in 2014.
